Transcript of Subcultures and Music

A subculture is a group of people with a culture which sets them apart from the larger culture to which they belong. This is a problem because you can be judged by the music that you listen to or even the clothes you wear. There is no real solution to this problem. There is always gonna be people that will judge you but at least you can have in mind not to be like them. Emo and Scene are 2 different subcultures
that are often mixed up. The fashion of both of the subcultures
is pretty musch the same. Today emo and scene is commonly tied to both music and fashion The usual fashion is wearing skinny jeans, sometimes in bright colors, and tight t-shirts which often bear the names of "emo" bands. Studded belts and black wristbands are common accessories in emo fashion. Black Converse sneakers and skate shoes, such as Vans, are popularly worn. The emo/scene fashion is also recognized for its hairstyles. Popular looks include long side-swept bangs, sometimes covering one or both eyes. Also popular is hair that is straightened and dyed black. Bright colors, such as blue, pink, red, or bleached blond, are also typical as highlights in emo hairstyles. The term is particularly well-known amongst American teenagers, as it is quite often used to refer to the subculture present within most American high schools: the traditional "popular kids", generally consisting of people in middle to upper class families, typically characterized as a shallow, transparent group, who are primarily concerned with superficial things, the three most obvious of which are probably popularity, physical appearance and material possessions. Frequently wearing inconspicuous clothing, the styles usually worn by preps are nonetheless more expensive than most other styles. Preps as they are commonly called
usually listen to: pop music, rap, indie rock etc.
This subculture is really known for the fashion and music. The fashion is sagging pants, long shirts, and baseball caps. The music is mostly rap and hip hop. People criticize
this music for degrading women and talking about violence and drugs.
People think if you listen to this kind of music, you will likely turn into a violent person.
