— Eleanor Roosevelt DEFINING A VISION: one that was GLOBAL in perspective: "The need for education systems to be MORE effective than ever before in creating academically advanced as well as well rounded leaders, and individuals in the community." So what happens after great ideas and conversations have been exchanged? ACTION TAKEN: I had several team meetings with parent volunteers
We had a mini visioning exercise with my team, the ELMS WW faculty, assisted by parent volunteers at the library last June before school was out
A dream board exercise with ELMS WW faculty in the summer
The parent volunteers shared with my team: research info, best practices, interviewed, went on site tour of schools that had "special" programs:
Laurel Research Center for girls, AB Combs in NC, Green HS using "Leader in me" by Sean Covey (author of 7 habits of Highly effective Teens), KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program), 2 million minutes, Montessori School system, Columbus school for girls, etc.
