Position
: In order to develop our intercultural competence as an organization, we must first objectively measure our IC before developing interventions.
Reasons
:
A. Measuring our IC is one way of Identifying potential organizational strengths/weakness as well as individual strengths/weakness (xxxx, 2001)
B. Since IC is objectively measured and understood, we can develop interventions to expand our strengths or address our weaknesses (xxxx, 2008).
Example
Using IDI within the work teams created new awareness and understanding within each work team. Team members found it was easier to trust each other in the midst of difficult decision-making conversations. As a result of this intervention, Bill Smith said, "We knew we had great people on our teams, we just didn't know how great" (Bill Smith, personal communication, October 26, 2013)!
