'Fix You' by Coldplay
Transcript of 'Fix You' by Coldplay
Resons to choose 'Fix you' by Coldplay
-1st person e.g. 'i will try'
This helps the theme of a person never giving up on the person that he care about
-Metaphors e.g. 'lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and i will try to fix you'.
Meaning that no matter how bad the person gets, he will never give up on them and will always try to 'fix them'
-Repetition e.g. 'tears stream, down your face'
This enforces the fact that the person is messed up and is very sad. It make the audience care for the person more, and makes the singer seem more likable and caring.
Juxtaposition e.g. 'high up above or down below.
This gives the 2 main ideas of a different line letting the person know they have a choice.
Alliteration e.g 'when you get what you want but not what you need.'
This shows the repetition of the 'w'. This creates a slower tempo.
Rhyme- 'face, replace, waste'
Assonance- 'and high up above, or down below, when your too in love, to let it go'. The repetition of the 'o' to slow tempo.
The main theme in the song is not giving up on yourself or the people you love. This is shown through the lyrics, 'and i will try, to fix you'. It is also shown through the use of first person when talking, meaning 'I will not give up' and that the person is trying to help the other person.
Another theme in this song is loss, the loss is shown through the lyrics '...when you loose something, you can't replace...' and ' when you love someone but it goes to waste' meaning that it is not just literal loss of material objects, but also emotional loss when you love someone and they dont love you back.

The band wanted to use a church organ for the instrument, but they couldn't get it. So when the main singer Chris Martin's wife, Gwyneth Paltrow's father died, he left a keybord to her in his will. Martin plugged it in and it was perfect. He said ' there was this incredible sound I'd never heard before. All these songs poured out from this one sound. Something has to inspire you, and something else takes over. It's very cloudy'
It is a beautiful love song about loss and remaining hopeful.
The song was inspired by Elbows album 'Grace Under Pressure' and Jimmy Cliff's 'Many Rivers to Cross'
The song was written indirectly about the lead singers wife.
Another theme is the depression and sadness that people face. This is evident throughout the whole song, and the sound of it. Without even listening to the lyrics the audience would automatically assume the lyrics are sad.
You should vote for 'Fix You' by Coldplay
because It is a beautiful love song about loss and remaining hopeful.
