Transcript of CFC Covenant Orientation Talk #3: Strengthening Family Life
We want to support not just couples, but to strengthen our families as well.

Strengthening Family Life
Covenant Orientation Talk # 3
The strength of our families in CFC will determine the extent that the Lord can use us for His purposes.
The Family is the basic unit of society
The condition of individual families will
determine the condition of society as a whole.
"Families in the Holy Spirit, renewing the face of the earth"
Our work of strengthening family life is the best way for us to work for the moral regeneration of society.
1. Understand better the meaning of our commitment to our spouse in marriage.
Marriage is a relationship of commitment and service
It is not based on emotion
M A R R I A G E
We need to recognize that we are first committed to God. Therefore, our feelings, likes and dislikes, and our will are all subordinated to God's will and plan for us.
During moments of difficulty, we can turn to the Lord.
28 “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
2. Live more fully the principles of Christian personal relationships.
We are all brothers and sisters
The demand of Christian’s personal relationships are more than just the practice of human virtues. We are called to unconditional love and service.
3. Make the home a Center of Family Life
Parents are not sufficiently available to their children.
4. Interact with Christian Families
Do you call this as bonding?
What's posted on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter
Christian Families should find ways to share their lives with one another
Having social life together
Helping one another in practical ways that involve people of various ages
Joint Lord's Day, Vacation together, Global Walk
Or maybe just simple coffee talk
5. Exercise greater control over family use of media and of time
Monitor and control flow of books, magazines, comics, records, radio, TV programs at home
Decide what is allowed
Decide how much time
7. Become Pastors of Our Children
Train the children not what we want them to be but to help them fullfil their God-given destiny
Winning is not what matters all the time.. but effort is
Parents must work actively to train and form their children in Christian faith and character
6. Develop Christian peer environment for every member of the Family
Peer groups are powerful force in the lives of young people
We do not seek to avoid these but to redirect them
We should strive to get our parents, brothers and sisters into our family ministries, if they are still not members of these groups
We will have a real alternative to the often intensely secular peer environments that are not Christian in orientation.
We must be determined to wrest the initiative
The future of humanity passes by way of the family
- Pope John Paul II
