Do you think that if the character’s background was different, reactions to the story would be different?
Why was it so accepted?

"He stops and reaches for a washcloth as I pant against him, wanting... needing.”

"Oh, how demeaning is this? Demeaning and scary and hot. He's making such a meal of this."
"He binds my wrists together with his tie. Some Boy Scout he must have been to learn this knot. "
"....not for punishment, but for your pleasure and mine."
He always makes such a meal of punishing me."
"Up and down like a whores' drawers, my subconscious remarks bitterly."

“You beguile me, Christian. Completely overwhelm me. I feel like Icarus flying too close to the sun.”
How language is used in the movie to make BDSM sex seem as natural and how it degrades sex into being purely physical.

How it makes BDSM look as the only way for sexual interactions, therefore breaking the sex taboo.

Analyze the other perspective on the movie, from people that do not agree with the way sex is presented.

What is BDSM?
BDSM stands for Bondage and Discipline, Sadism and Masochism, in an erotic sense. BDSM is basically about erotic pleasures of degrading role play, sadistic disciplining and masochistic submission. The purpose is to experience pleasure in the pain of flesh or moral degradation.

"My biggest concern was making sure that the sex was really classy and tasteful. It's very coyly written in the books. Women don't like salacious slang. So that was really important to me, to keep it tasteful."
“Why is Christian Grey someone that women are cheering on and fantasizing about? Why does my own mother at 66 years old connect with this story and feel like she “missed out” on something in her sex life.” -Craig Gross
