Character Setting Place: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban takes place mainly in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Plot Theme/Conflict Man Vs. Self By: J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Hogwarts is the school in which the main character, Harry Potter, learns how to do magic. Although most of the story takes place here, some important plot points happen in other places such as the Shrieking Shack. Other Places in the Book The Dursley's House Harry lives with his "muggle' Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and Harry's cousin, Dudley Vernon. Harry hates being here. The Shrieking Shack The Shrieking Shack is the setting of the climax of the story. It is connected to Howarts by a secret underground path. Time/Duration: The Book takes place over the span of one school year; it is Harry's third year attending Hogwarts. Main Character Harry Potter Harry Potter, the main character, has many things happen to him throughout the book. He has a lot of different feelings and emotions towards other characters in the book, but his actions are always wise and noble. Harry is very important during the search for convicted murderer, Sirius Black. With the help of Harry's best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, the truth about Sirius Black is revealed. Supporting Characters Hermione Granger Hermione Granger is one of Harry's best friend. She shows a great amount of care for Harry, and she also shows a lot of concern for him when he is in danger. Hermione is also very smart, as Remus Lupin says to her, "You are the brightest witch of your age, Hermione." Ron Weasley Ron Weasley is Harry's other best friend. Ron is always there for Harry, but Ron and Hermione sometimes get in fights. Remus Lupin Remus Lupin is Harry's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Lupin, who was a good friend of Harry's dad, is discriminated against because he is a werewolf. Sirius Black Sirius Black, a convicted murderer, is Harry's godfather. In the book, he is wanted by the Ministry of Magic, and the Ministry has sent dementors out to catch him. Dementors are evil creatures that feed on happiness. Exposition Setting: The Dursley's home

Situation: Harry gets so angry that he loses contol of his magic and blows up Aunt Marge

Characters: Harry, Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, Aunt Marge, Dudley. Rising Action Harry finds out that Sirius Black is not only a killer but he is responsible for the death of Harry's parents. Harry is once again attacked by a dementor at a Quidditch game. Initiating Event While on the train to Hogwarts, Harry is attacked by a dementor and he faints. Professor Lupin saves Harry. Climax Harry, Ron and Hermione get chased into the Shrieking Shack where they find Sirius Black waiting for them. While at the Shack it is revealed thhat Lupin is a werewolf, and that Ron's pet rat was not actually a rat, but Peter Pettigrew. Pettigrew was a friend of Black and Lupin but he betrayed them. Pettigrew faked his death and it was blamed on Sirius. Falling Action Peter Pettigrew escapes, and the dementors come to suck out Sirius Black's soul even though he is innocent. Resolution Harry and Hermione go back in time to save Sirius Black and help him escape. In the book, Harry often struggles with overcoming the fear of dementors. By the end of the book Harry is able to stop the dementors from sucking out Sirius Black's soul, and this took a lot of courage to do. Man vs. Man Harry gets into fight with characters like Draco Malfoy, and he got very angry at Sirius Black before he knew that Sirius was innocent. Man Vs. Supernatural Harry has to fight many supernatural things, from boggarts to dementors. There are many themes within this book varying from themes about friendship to themes about revenge, but the best fitting theme would be "Don't let fear and anger take over your life." THE END!
