Education is a need of people
It is important in the lives of people
In New France, the Catholic Church was the only source of education
Before the Nuns’ arrival in New France, girls did not get education
After the arrival of Nuns, girls learnt about house-keeping, language, math etc.
Catholic Church trained new priests instead of bringing them from France
Without education one could not find a job in New France
Existence of Catholic Church was crucial
Why did education play an important role in the existence of the Catholic Church?

Where can evidence be found that the Catholic Church improved lives?

Certain measures needed to be met
Food, Shelter, Clothing, Education, Health care, Employment, and social needs
Food, Shelter and Clothing are basic needs. Others are extra needs
Basic needs can be met as long as one has resources
Employment was necessary
Colonists got straight to work after emigration
Education was for next generation living in New France
Education was needed to get Employment
Employment brought money that fulfilled basic needs
Church set up Seminaries to train boys for priesthood
Health care was another need
Nuns from Catholic Church managed the Hotel-Dieu in each settlement
“Hotel-Dieu de Quebec” was founded by duchesse D’Aiguillon
“Hotel-Dieu de Montreal” was founded by Jean Mance
The Church provided social, political, economic and personal services
Church defended Habitants rights
Church criticized the government and encouraged improvement
Religion is important everywhere

Church assimilated natives like the Wendat so they can join their religion Christianity

Community of new France needed catholic church or else the city would lack religious beliefs
Lacking religious beliefs was to not believing in their god or godsand also doing catholic prayers
Also if church wasn’t there new France would crumble, go mad
New France also un peaceful without church
After population increased catholic church got into business with hospitals, education, charity
New France needed hospitals or else kids in community wouldn’t have the education they need to get jobs
If people in new France got injured and there was no hospital they would die
