Behind The Scenes Of The Lord Of The Rings Movie Trilogy. Where Did It All Start? The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was originally a series of three books written by J R. R. Tolkien. Peter Jackson Decided that he wanted to direct the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy and he wanted to make it perfect. After New Line Cinema made a deal with Jackson by accepting his proposal, Jackson and his crew decided that would be no better place to film the movies than New Zealand. The First Stepping Stone Because of the many different terrains and its vast majority of remote locations. New Zealand was an excellent choice as a location to film the movies. The Cast The main actors were Elijah Wood,
Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Liv Tyler, Sean Astin, and Orlando Bloom. The cast had to arrive to New Zealand three months before they started filming the movies, to train themselves for the upcoming year and a half of strait filming. Preparation Costumes and Props The making of the costumes and weapons played a huge part in making the characters in the movie come to life. A big part of the costumes are the make up and cosmetics.

All of the actors who played the part of Orcs wore full face masks.

Many of the main characters wore cosmetics also. Make up and Cosmetics The hobbits wore fake feet that were mad out of plastics and rubbers. Before and After Makeup Fake nose Fake beard Added cosmetics
around the eyes
and on face. The Process of Cosmetics Viggo Mortensen Liv Tyler Sean Astin Orlando Bloom Before After Orc Mask How it was made Many of the sets took a very long time to create. Sets Hobbiton Rivendell Rohan To make Hobbiton, artist, Allen Lee, sat on a chair looking out upon the piece of land that they chose would be an appropriate place to build Hobbiton. As Lee analized the land he sketched what he thought hobbiton should look like into the landscape. Facts About Hobbiton The made over twenty hobbit holes into the rolling hills of the landscape.
They planted real flowers and vegetables around Hobbiton to help make it come to life.
They made stone pathways and roads to make Hobbiton look more like a little village. The design of Rivendell was also done by Allen Lee the same way he made the design of Hobbiton. He sat in the woods for hours sketching the houses into the trees. After Allen had drawings that the director liked, the construction of Riveldell began. Allen Lee
at work Rohan was probably the most time consuming set to make, it took nine months to build and was completely tore down when they were
finished filming all of the Rohan scenes. Rohan was built from the ground up on a giant hill like rock in a very remote location of NewZealand. Unlike the some of the other sets all of the backgrounds that surrounded Rohan is real natural scenery. Frodo Gandalf Aragorn Arwen Sam Legolas As you now know there was very much thought and a whole lot of effort that went into the making of the Lord of The Rings movie Trilogy and probably more than most of you expected. Conclusion The reason I chose to do my final task on this project is because I liked the movies and i thought that there would be pretty cool to see some of the things they did to make the movies as good as they are The End More Work Sited “The Lord of the Rings”.
