BLACK HUMOR M VIE TV series COMICS FICTI N Black Mirror Season 1(2011) Brief Introduction Catch-22 is one of the typical representative books of black humor. Joseph Heller, the author of this novel described many absurd images in a symbolic way. Many words, phrases, and dialogues in this novel are disorder, repeating, dubious and paradoxical. It is the wonderful deduction of black humor. All in all, catch -22 is one of the most important works of black humor and this PPT is to make us have a general understanding of it. Birth Date:
Birth Place: Heller is widely regarded as one of the best post–World War II satirists. Although he is remembered primarily for Catch-22, his other works center on the lives of various members of the middle class and remain exemplars of modern satire. . Background

Its hero is a bombardier named Yossarian, who is frantic and furious because thousands of people he hasn't even met keep trying to kill him. (He has decided to live forever even if he has to die in the attempt.) Heller uses Yossarian's situation as a means to satirize and criticize the military and dehumanizing bureaucracies in general. The novel follows a disorienting logic of its own, owing more to Lewis Carroll's Wonderland than any war-themed novel before it. "A wondrous book with many layers. When I first read it at 14 the story of war and passion really inspired me. It was like reading something in neon: everything came alive. As a teenager you start to feel the world is against you and I identified strongly with Yossarian and his dilemma. One of the funniest things I've ever read."

"Catch 22 was one of the first books I read that I really lost myself in. Having only read it once, I find that I still miss the characters to this day."
