Under 10 years old when
he joined the 22nd Michigan Became an Officer
in the U.S. Army, he
became known as
"The Drummer Boy
of Chickamauga." CHILDREN OF
THE NORTH JOHN CLEM More then 300 soldiers were
under the age of 13.
More than 200,000 soldiers were of the ages 10-16. YOUNG SOLDIERS OF THE CIVIL WAR:( john clem was THE youngest soldier in the civil war (so said by the newspaper "Harper's weekly")
most of the younger soldiers were of the ages 15-17 but there were plenty of soldiers who were under the age of 12. to keep them selves amused kid soldiers would keep pets even though they weren' t suposed to, such as dogs, cats, squirls, raccoons and other wild life. an adult soldier with a dog. Civil War
(guns n roses) howard hopkins -young man of the civil war who later became a horror book auther:p Avery Brown -joined company C 31st Ohio volunteer infintry.
-He was was only 8years, 11months, and 13days old.
-He claimed to be 12 on his enlistment papers and became a drummer boy.
-through out the years he formed band across the North.
