This will be your FIRST grade of the LAST 9 weeks!!!
Throw the Ball
Noun - Verb Pairs
I will start out by throwing the tennis ball to someone.
That person has to stand up and make up a sentence with the vocabulary word that I post.
The sentence MUST include a time frame (time, day, month, year, etc.)
Everyone else will write down the sentence that was signed.
The person standing will throw the ball to someone else, who will stand, and sign a sentence with the new vocabulary word

I am going to assign you a partner.
You will then have to ask each other a series of questions from across the room.
Take turns asking the questions.
You don't need to write down their answer.
Make sure you can see each other. Move if you have to.
You will have 20 seconds to ask and answer each question! I may give you longer depending on the difficulty of the question.
Wait for the timer to go off before you move onto the next one.

If you forgot a sign, you can ask ONLY the people sitting next to, in front of, or behind you.
DO NOT THROW THE BALL HARD. PLEASE BE POLITE!
They are just signed with different movements.
Everyone needs a partner.
Use a dictionary to search for as many noun-verb pairs as you can.
Write down your pairs on your paper. You BOTH need to write them down.

Now that we are done, each set of partners will sign their noun-verb pairs to me. I will write them down on the board.
Whatever pairs you DON'T have, write them on your paper.
When everyone is done, you should have a long list of noun-verb pairs.

Describing the Body Ethnicity
Each group will have 12 cards, 1 card per person.
Write down what is on that card. Write these in your journal. Title it Culture Notes 8.1.
You will have 2 minutes to write everything down.
There will be 2 cards that do not require writing. These will be sign practicing cards.
There should be NO TALKING!!!!!
SHORT HAIR (2)
Describe each of the following people's hairstyles. Use a complete sentence. Include their hair color, length, and style. Following the example above.

Personality Traits and Characteristics
In your journal, copy down the following layout.
You will be asking 8 different people what their family is like.
YOUR FAMILY LIKE WHAT?
Respond by listing on your ND hand.
(1) MOM SHE EMOTIONAL. SHE ENJOY READING.
(2) SISTER SHE MOTORMOUTH. SHE ENJOY CHAT FRIEND.
(3) UNCLE HE NOSY RUDE. HE ENJOY SWIM.
Write down their information in the correct box.
Family Personality Types
I will give you your 4 different partners.
You will stay seated the whole time. Look across the room to sign to your partner.
Read the packet about Disabilities and Handicaps.
Use the notes to write in the correct information on the 2nd page
I will show you where to write everything.
When you are done with your notes, tape both into your journal.
Next, take out a blank sheet of paper and begin writing a GLOSSED monologue. Use the video from Tuesday (My Grandfather) and create your own.
Your monologue should include the following:
Who you look like
What that person looks like. Go into detail!!!
What their personality type is
What they enjoy doing
Use complete ASL sentences!!!
You will be signing them to the class Monday and Tuesday!!!

When you present, remember these this:
Sign to US... not your "mental blackboard."
Be natural!! Don't make it look like you are presenting anything. Sign it like you are telling us.
As an audience, remember this:
Phones are put away. Anyone with their phone out will get it taken away and sent to the office.
You will fill in the blanks on your worksheet as you listen/watch presentations.
Freshman will start presenting today. Sophomores will present Monday.
Ask your partner how they feel today.

Culture Notes from the book.
Copy each set of notes into your journal. Then, cut out the pictures that match the notes and glue them next to your paragraph.
Make sure you leave enough space for the pictures.
Why can't you just cut out the paragraphs too? Because WRITING the information helps you to LEARN the information!
You have 20 minutes!
Describe each picture below. Start with the main landform, then describe the surroundings. Think about CLASSIFIERS!!
Divide the cards up somewhat evenly between two partners.
One person holds up a card above their head.
DON'T LOOK AT YOUR CARDS.
The other person has to sign the word that is above their partners head.
The partner holding the card has to guess what it is.
One partner can SAY the words while the other one signs them.
When you are done, switch roles!

On the back page is your expressive guidelines sheet. Use this to practice with when you are done with your review.
You will be video taping tomorrow!!!
There will be NO TALKING during the first 25 minutes of class. The last 15 minutes you can visit with your partner to discuss tomorrow's video presentation.

2. Stay in this room to record.
3. There will be NO TALKING. Figure out a way to communicate.
