Sikhs believe that there is only one God and he is God for all people and all religions. They don't believe in fasting , idol worshiping , or worship of the dead. Sikhism believes that people of different races, religions, or sex are all equal in Gods eyes. Women can participate in any religious function or perform any Sikh ceremony or lead the congregation in prayer.

1469 Birth of Guru Nanak founder of Sikhism.
1520 Mughul Emperor Babar invades India, Guru Nanak witnessed massacres and criticizes ruler.
1526 Muslims conquer Northern India leading to the founding of the Mughal Empire.
1539 Guru Nanak dies.
1699 Guru Gobind Singh creates the Khalsa Panth and fought wars against Mughul regime.
1947India and Pakistan become separate independent nations dividing Panjab. Sikhs settle in West Panjab, India. From 1947 to 1984 Sikhs have consistently demanded recognition of their rights according to the Indian consistution, which had been denied.
1984 On the pretext of terrorism, the Indian government invaded the Darbar Sahib killing thousands of innocent Sikhs and destroying the Akaal Takht. This resulted in the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards.
