Drinking has been on a rise in America. Heavy drinking among adults has risen 17.2% from 2005 to 2012.
Drinking has been incorporated into all celebrations from birthdays, to weddings, and even to sporting events.

Even though drinking is very common in America, it is often not discussed.
Under aged drinking in America is comparably lower than in other countries.

College Drinking
72% of people have a period of heavy drinking in their life
which usually lasts 3-4 years, peaks from age 18-24, and overlaps with college.
College graduates drink almost 20% more than those who have not gone to college

Binge Drinking
Simple Definition: The consumption of an excessive amount of alcohol in a short period of time.
Amount of Drinks Required for it to be "Binge Drinking"
The large quantities of alcohol consumed in one session is different between men and women to be considered binge drinking. It is 5 or more drinks for men, and 4 or more for women.
Effects
Binge drinking can effect the heart, liver, brain, and other organ systems.
Binge drinking can lead to aggressive/abusive behavior, moodiness, and depression.
Relationships with others become strained due to change in behavior and people often become more distant.
