Alternative Ending.................................................................................#1
The Alchemist was a narcissistic person who was greedy and only wanted enough gold to rule richer than the king. He would go any measure to get the treasures he wanted. He even resorted to using dark magic and witchcraft. It was a crime worth hanging in that time.

Leech was also this way but he wanted his brother's magic and abilities. He even hoped for his death and I will let you wonder who prevailed in the end. It might be a big heartache though.
This is how I felt it should have ended, with the two brothers together- not eternally separated with hatred.
If both had survived and if one of them had not made a greedy choice then this may have been true. It would have been my idea of a good ending.
Will looses a dear friend was robbed, accused of the murder, and is blackmailed. He must obey the apothecary and be his servant ("apprentice"). The apothecary uses sulfur dust to scare the criminals away and it makes Will afraid of him from the start and that fear only grows over time.
Will has to change everything about himself to fit in, not be found, and meet the apothecary's standards in order to live because of the lie the apothecary said (he accused him of the murder).
Sleeps on bags of hay and flour

-and sometimes they don't have a choice.
Will goes behind a locked door that he was forbidden to go behind and finds out that the apothecary was a wizard or
Alchemist
which is very similar to a wizard. He is forced to do chores far worse than the original ones. Once he had to cut and retrieve hair from a dead man's head on the gallows. He is seen, he runs to the cemetery, hides, and is a
hair
away from being seen.
An odd sound scares the night watchmen away and Will finds a VERY important grave- which ends in someones demise later in the book. He also finds the cat family of four, and meets Molly- the daughter of the miller (his dear friend that died).
He tells her everything that happened and she eventually becomes a plague doctor even though she was a woman. she investigates and helps people that way. Will goes with her only once and he comes back thinking he will never see her again because of all the sick patients in need of help.
Leech hates his brother and is very jealous to the point of wanting him dead. Their mother dies escaping with Dab (her daughter) who survives because of Molly. She broke a leg (while escaping) so she cant escape the apothecary when he experiments on her and," Neither of her brothers ever heard her sweet voice again".
No one heard the cries for help but Leech, but she called for Jupiter, and he was not called. His hated brother Jupiter was. He would not forgive that so he would not help.
Help. Only one word is needed- but still no one did.
Jupiter- strong son
Dab- Beautiful Daughter
Leech- greedy and jealous runt (full of hatred)

The apothecary summons a spirit but it eventually wants him dead because he is trapped in a jar and every minute awake from death is torture to him. The apothecary need information from him to live forever or make a stone to get all the gold he ever wanted. The spirit tricks him but the apothecary is smart so he lives through these tricks and tortures him even more by burning the jar over fire and other.
"Thy malice blinded thee to all else."
"You shall never be released. In that bottle your felonious soul will forever be imprisoned. With or without your help I shall cheat Death."
The spirit finally tells them how to make the elixir of life and Jupiter and Will bring the apothecary back from the death of the plague. The spirit tells Leech to get the potion and pour it on his grave but he pours a red hair one and drinks some thinking it was the other potion. His brother sees what the apothecary has hidden in the cabinet- part of his sister left from the experiment in a jar along with other experiments on rats. He drinks the potion and his hatred turns against the apothecary and he will make death become real to someone even immortal if he can.

Jupiter becomes larger than a big lion and has a battle with the apothecary. He knows fire or ice can reverse the effects of the potion so he uses fire. The apothecary uses ice to fight back. Jupiter almost wins but the apothecary prevailed in the end.

The spirit is freed because he gets the apothecary to step on the bottle by accident. He eventually brings a part of the burning city to their shop and their side of town by gusts of wind and it sets ablaze. He takes the apothecary and walks into the fire- they will meet their demise together, (the spirit for a second time), "hand in hand."
The apothecary lost everything he ever worked for in minutes and it was like he was never there. It was like he was wiped from the face of the earth (or burned in this case). Leech and Jupiter climbed up the chimney and deserted their battle to the death over hatred to escape the fire. Leech fell, Jupiter caught him, and from then on
horrid

things happened... do not cry, know that at least they are no longer in pain and the false hope of which cat it was just makes it worse. Cherish the good- question the bad and ask why.
Will escaped through an upstairs window with the locked box with his stolen fortune and the evidence of it. He also took a piece of silk from the apothecary's robe with answers to a potion and wrapped a cat that was COVERED in soot and partly charred fur (not saying which cat). He found Molly and she was still alive.
