A nearsighted person's eye is longer than a normal eye or their cornea has a steeper slope.
The shape of the eye does not bend light correctly, so the images are blurred.

As opposed to a farsighted person's eye, which happens to be smaller than the average eye.
So light that focuses in the eye lands behind the retina instead of on the retina.
Nearsightedness tends to occur in people who have family members with the same condition
Farsightedness is often present from birth,

-
You read lines on eye charts
that are both distant and near.
-Your doctor will use an instrument that has various lenses, called a
phoropter
, to measure your refractive error.
-And then
shine a light into each eye
to check the reflection from the retina in the back of the eye.
In order to diagnose
Hyperopia
and
Myopia
but children can often tolerate moderate amounts, and most outgrow this condition.

Prevention

There isn't a way to prevent becoming near or far sighted.
The eyes receive approximately 90 percent of all our information, making us basically visual creatures.
When you are looking at someone you love, your pupils dilate,
They do the same when you are looking at someone you hate.
Even small noises cause the pupils of the eyes to dilate.

Babies are always born with blue eyes.
Your eyes are always the same size from birth.
