Dwarf Winter White Russian Hamster History and Origin The Dwarf Winter White Russian Hampster originated from Eastern Kazakhstan and southwest Siberia.They were discovered in the early 1970s. Housing and Care Recommended housing for the Russian Hamster is an aquarium or a solid sided cage with a secure top. Avoid cedar or pine wood shavings. They like hamster wheels, small paper tubes, and small boxes full of wood shavings. Keep cages clean to avoid sickness.
