There is about 3.5 million homeless including 1.4 million children By the time children reach their teenage years, over 80% of them have experiences a violent act. Over 70% of single parent homeless families have only a mother figure. Many people become homeless from losing their jobs and also foreclosure. The Wichita Childrens Home has a program for teens aged 16-21 who are homeless. It offers them a safe place to live and teaches them life skills..The program has three phases and youths in phase two are offered their own apartments.
