Area

Perimeter
How can we find the PERIMETER?
The perimeter is the distance around an object
Because a rectangle is a shape that has 2 pairs of equal sides, you can do this 2 ways:
ADD
4 + 10 = 14
. MULTIPLY the sum by 2.
14 x 2 = 28.

MULTIPLY
4 x 2 = 8
MULTIPLY
10 x 2= 20
then add products together:
20 + 8 = 28
Can you do this one?
Decide which way works best for you!
First ADD 7 + 4 = 11
Then MULTIPLY the sum by 2.
11 x 2 = 22
OR
MULTIPLY 7 x 2 = 14
MULTIPLY 4 x 2 = 8
Then add the products. 14 + 8= 22
Perimeter (P)= 28mm
Don't forget to put the unit! (mm)
Perimeter (P)= 22 yd
AREA!
Is your answer correct?!
this is the last one
Find the AREA for the section in blue.
Is your answer correct?!
Hint:
It doesn't matter that only 2 sides are given. Remember: a rectangle has 2 pairs of equal sides!
Area is the amount of surfaces that a shape covers. We call these boxes square units.
2 x 4 = 8 sq. units
12 x 7= 84
Here is another one:
