What does leadership
Name two leaders and their qualities/characteristics that make them successful.
Leadership sounds like someone who gives encouragement to people whether their going through a tough time or they just need a little bit of motivation. They give positive reinforcement to people making difficult and or big decisions. Leadership sounds like being confident in what you have to say or do, and being able to speak up when something doesn’t seem right or ask for help when you need it, Being the first to speak up or ask a question. They know what to say at the right time and are always enthusiastic and positive about everything they're doing.
Being a leader feels empowering, as if you have a purpose. It makes you feel superior knowing that people look up to you and want and or need your help. You feel accomplished and proud to have helped people that need it and that you’ve made a difference in someone’s life.
Being a participant makes you feel as though you’re a part of the plan. That you’re needed to help get things done and that you aren’t just another number. You feel like you have a purpose, that you’re involved in making a difference in someone’s life although you aren’t completely in control of the situation you are still a big part.
Nellie McClung: The qualities and characteristics that made Nellie McClung a leader were that she was ambitious; she did everything in her power to make sure that women achieved equal rights. She had a serious passion for what she was fighting for. She did everything in her power to make sure that she got her point across. She was thick skinned, because she had to deal with all the hate and the awful things people would say and do. She put up with it all because she knew that once she got what she wanted it would’ve all been worth it.
Jack Layton: The qualities and characteristics that made Jack Layton a leader were that he was not bias. He wanted everyone to have equal living conditions and quality of life. He was inspiring to others. He made everyone change the way that they thought about higher and lower classes. He was also thick skinned to have put up with everything that the others were saying about his campaign. He was wise, throughout decision making and with everything.
Leadership is showing confidence in what you do. A leader is also someone who goes out of their way to help others and someone who is easy to approach/talk with. Goes out of their way to make sure everyone feels welcome and not alone, for example if they see someone sitting by themselves, they invite them over to participate in what they are doing. Being a leader is also taking yourself out of your comfort zone and doing something that you may not like but doing it anyways to help with the bigger picture.
