Transcript of Area 51

What is it?
During WW2, the area around Groom Lake was used as an Air Force base
During the Cold War, the CIA used the area for 'Project Aquatone'
The purpose of the project was to build a U2 aircraft that could spy on the enemy
Because the project needed to be a secret, they chose the middle of the Nevada desert, where the old WW2 air base used to be and where the salt flats provided an excellent landing strip
In an attempt to get workers to migrate to the base they named it "Paradise Ranch" and included both a movie theater & a volleyball court
Throughout the Cold War, it was used as a base for secretly testing many radar aircrafts including the failed testing of many drones
During the "Have Doughnut" mission, the US even captured a soviet plane and put it through a series of tests at Area 51
The base has expanded throughout history, often displacing Nevada families who get little recognition in court, as the judge always votes in favor of Area
UFO's and Conspiracies
Area 51 is one of the most widely recognized secrets in the United States.
Only a select few know for sure what happens in this facility
people construe this secrecy to mean that there is something strange and extraterrestrial going on at the base.
the government tends not to acknowledge the base and refuses to address its existence
it is the mysterious lights that often appear in the sky over Area 51 that attract the most conspiracy theorists

In Pop Culture
Area 51 has been used in the media often as a base for the extraterrestrial
Often use in a joking manner to mock government secrecy...
In the classic movie "Independence Day", the US must protect itself from invaders from Area 51
There is a video game titled Area 51
Area 51
by Grace Steele and Julia Fesser
Impact on US History
Located in Southern Nevada near the popular "Extraterrestrial Highway" and the Salt Flat "Groom Lake"
A United States Air Force facility known as "Area 51" within the area of a Nevada Test and Training Range
Official names by the CIA are the "Homey Airport" and "Groom Lake", the CIA once called it Area 51 in a document from the Vietnam War
Other names include "Dreamland", "Paradise Ranch" "Home Base" & "Watertown"
It's current use is unknown and the extreme secrecy around it's purpose has caused it to be a base for a conspiracy theories
The most probable use for it is to test aircraft and weapons (military)
Research in Area 51 has formally been declared "Top Secret" and the CIA didn't even acknowledge Area 51 until 2005
The land around Area 51 is off-limits to civilian and normal military air traffic
Security clearances are checked regularly; cameras and weaponry are not allowed and signs around the Area indicate that deadly force will be used to trespassers
Whenever Nevada Test Sites are mentioned in formal legal documents, the specific name "Area 51" is never mentioned
EXCEPT in one legal document from the Vietnam War where every mention of Area 51 has been removed from the document except this line, " "Three OXCART aircraft and the necessary task force personnel will be deployed from Area 51 to Kadena."
July of 2013, the US government officially declassified hundreds of documents about Air Force testing in Nevada that mentioned Area 51 thousands of times
In 1994, Walter Kasza and Robert Frost died at Area 51 from mysterious chemical exposure, both wives of the men as well as the Environmental Protection Agency sued Area 51 and demanded to see a detailed list of the chemicals and their purposes
When the lawsuit made it to court, President Bill Clinton issued a statement that Area 51 was exempt from any and all environmental laws
Do Aliens really exist....?
Find out for yourself...
It is considered so sensitive that only those who take an oath of secrecy for life are allowed in
conspiracy theorists and UFOlogists have speculated that the government uses Area 51 to experiment with extraterrestrials and their spacecrafts
Others have even claimed that the moon landing was staged right there in the Nevada desert
And more recent news....
The Roswell Incident

Although the history and conspiracies surrounding Area 51 often make it the butt of many jokes, these conspiracies actually bring to light general and continuing distrust in the government, and the ethical issues behind how it is legal for the US government to keep secrets from it's citizens every day on the basis of safety
In July 1947, rancher Mac Brazel discovered some strange debris in an area northwest of Roswell, New Mexico
Brazel couldn't identify the debris, and a nearby military base released conflicting information about the material's origin.
While people thought the incident was unusual, several years passed before the first theories about alien activity really took off.
The basic theory was that the debris came from an alien spacecraft and that the United States government confiscated the material for later study.

According to some theories, the government took it to Area 51, a secret military base in Nevada where the government tested experimental aircraft
. There were stories of autopsies performed by government officials on dead aliens. Some people claimed that anyone trying to uncover the government's secrets about aliens would receive a visit from a group of intimidating officials in dark suits: the Men in Black.
(Unfortunately, neither Donald Trump nor Bernie Sanders has made their stance on Aliens clear yet)
The extreterrastrial Highway
A state highway located in Rachel, Nevada, a town of 54 inhabitants
The top-secret Area 51 government base is near here and many travelers have reported UFO observations and other strange alien activity along this road
Little A'Le'Inn- a restaurant along the road where UFO seekers go
"Extra-terrestrial life does exist", the head of Nasa has confirmed
He beleives in extraterrestrial life on other planets, and concludes we will go to Mars by 2030
