By: William Penney The States of Matter Solid Liquid The End Matter Gas The molecules are not packed, and move randomly. The shape of a gas is also random and has no distinct shape. A gas will take up all of the room inside the container because all of the molecules just get further apart from each other. molecules moving randomly molecules are vibrating in place molecules slide past each other Inside a liquid, the molecules vibrate, but keep inside their formation. A solid has it's own shape and volume. A liquid has a definite volume, but no definite shape. A liquid takes the shape of it's container.
