Transcript of KRBC Missions 3

Kennerly Road Baptist Church understands that the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) to evangelize the world is the task of all Believers both actively through the open proclamation of the Gospel and passively through the living out of the truth of the Gospel in our daily lives.

We also recognize that the pattern of the Bible is the specific commissioning of people to actively carry this message of the gospel beyond our local community.
Missions Philosophy
Church Planting is the Biblical Method
Apostolic Leadership
Acts 13:1-3

“1 Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.”
The Church is the Focus
Some Questions to Consider:
Whom do we see being sent out by the church in the New Testament to fulfill the Great Commission?
Did the church seek to fulfill its mission by the sending of Believers to live out their christian life in front of others?
Acts 14:21-23

“21 When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, 22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. 23 And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.”
The Church is God's Passion
The Church is God's Plan
To be committed to the church is to be committed to the plan of God. It is to set aside our plans, wisdom, and focus and replace them with God's blueprint for the advancement of His mission.
Matthew 16:18-19

“18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
The Church is God's Wisdom on Display
The Church is the Bride of Christ
A Million Dollar Proposition
The church is a corporate imaging of the character and purposes of God.
Ephesians 3:6-11
Ephesians 5:22-27
To be committed to the advancement of the church is to love what Christ loves, to sacrifice for what Christ sacrificed, and to serve what Christ served. We must move beyond a love of souls to a love of the church.

The New Testament consistently provides the pattern of planting local churches as the method of fulfilling the Great Commission. To that end it is the responsibility and right of Kennerly Road Baptist Church to commission and send Elders to plant local churches to reach beyond our local church.

Because this is the pattern of the early church (Ephesians 2:19-20)
Because it is unhealthy to separate evangelism from involvement in the local church (Acts 14:21-23)
Because the church is the plan of God (Matthew 16:18-19)
Because the church shows the character of God (Ephesians 3:6-11)
Because the church is the focus of the love of God (Ephesians 5:22-27)
