History Born 1902 and grew up in California He was an only child and his father was very supportive Ansel loved nature, long walks and the Golden Gate Bridge which were all later inspirations to him He taught himself to play piano and read music. He was talanted and ended up giving up piano for photography as his profession Accomplishments In 1927 Ansel made his first photograph, and also became friends with Albert Bender who helped him create his portfolio He is very famous for his being an environmentalist, and his black and white pictures of the American West He helped create the group f/64 with Edward Weston, and Immogen Cunningham Photographs Cactus taken in the southwest
