MICROSOFT WORD
FEATURES
MORE ABOUT WORD
Microsoft word is a word processing software. As we use a notebook to note or rather write words and sentences in a presentable manner, similarly MS word allows us to type text in simple and effective manner.
Uses Of Excel
At its core, Excel provides tools for creating spreadsheets. Even with very little experience, you can enter data into rows and columns, sort the data and filter it for easier viewing. After entering data, you can create graphs and charts with only a few clicks. Excel also provides functions and formulas, making it possible for your spreadsheet to automatically calculate and update results based on the data you input. Advanced users can write miniature programs within Excel using Visual Basic for Applications to perform repetitive tasks, create new methods of analyzing data or turn static spreadsheets into interactive utilities.
MORE ABOUT EXCEL
Microsoft Excel is the most popular spreadsheet to perform mathematical calculations. A spreadsheet is like a table in which data can be spread in a tabular form consisting of rows and columns.Microsoft Excel is a program that can be used for multiple applications. It is commonly used to organize and arrange data neatly and efficiently. It is able to program, perform, math equations, and graph equations, as well as create charts from the data in the program.
Microsoft originally marketed a spreadsheet program called Multiplan in 1982, which was very popular on CP/M systems, but on MS-DOS systems it lost popularity to Lotus 1-2-3.

This promoted development of a new spreadsheet called Excel which started with the intention to 'do everything 1-2-3 does and do it better'.

The first version of Excel was released for the Mac in 1985 and the first Windows version was released in November 1987.

Lotus was slow to bring 1-2-3 to Windows and by 1988 Excel had started to outsell 1-2-3 and helped Microsoft achieve the position of leading PC software developer.

This accomplishment, dethroning the king of the software world, solidified Microsoft as a valid competitor and showed its future of developing graphical software.

Microsoft pushed its advantage with regular new releases, every two years or so. The current version for the Windows platform is Excel 11, also called Microsoft Office Excel 2003. The current version for the Mac OS X platform is Microsoft Excel 2004.

Microsoft Word is a word processor that lets users type text into the document and add images, clip art, diagrams and different font or design choices. The main file formats are .doc and . docx . it also helps to check the spelling and find the meaning of words.
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet and mathematics program that can make calculations and graphs based on data the user enters. The main file formats are .xls and .xlsx. Most computers at schools do not have Microsoft Office 2007/2010, so the file format .xlsx (which is the 2007/2010 format) will not work. Try to save it as a .xls file whenever possible.
