savanna facts
Savannas are found in South America, Australia, Asia, and Africa. Geographically the main land continent can be split into 3 large areas, the western plateau, the central lowlands, and the eastern highlands.
The savanna climate varies according to the season. In the dry season temperatures can be extremely hot or cold. In the wet season temperatures are usually warm. Semi tropical savannas are usually dry and get less than 30 inches of rain per year. Tropical savannas get as much as 50 inches of rain in the wet season and as little as 4 inches during the dry season. The average precipitation yearly in the savannas is 50.8-127cm or 20-50 inches. Its mostly or all rain. It only rarely snows. The dry climate combined with the extreme heat in the dry season makes savannas ripe areas for grass and bush fires.
