Les Fille Du Roi: Their greatest struggle
By: Katie
The Fille Du ROi's Greatest Struggle was

They were promised something but they did not get it
"Manipulation"
but that isn't what they got, unfortunately. because they were female and they were thought to be weak, and were thought to not be as important as men, they were disrespected and their opinions were unvalued.
The filles du roi thought that they would be nicely greeted, showered with many goods and riches.
tHEY WERE ALSO PROMISED A LIFE FREE OF SLAVERY,
different from what they had before they agreed to become a fille du roi.

SUCh as...
A new home
livres (money)
crops
More jobs
after new france was built, they sent over many people to populate the country and to gain more power.

some of the people they sent were habitants, coureur de bois and filles du roi.
unfair rights,
abuse and hatred,
little or no pay,
instead they arrived to nothing more than:

depression,
and a big list of daily chores.
All these people faced many difficult struggles.
however, the fille du roi had to face the most problems out of them all.
The most significant struggle they had to face
with that said, the filles du roi's lonely, miserable lives didn't change much in the future. Every time they tried to fight for their rights, there would always be someone there to stop them and get them back to work.
Was
finally, even though they were strongly disrespected and did not receive what they were promised, they continued to be forced to populate, they kept being used as slaves and serving their demanding husbands, and completing the LONG LIST OF dirty chores that no one else wanted to complete.
to conclude, the fille du roi lead the worst lives out of all;

lives full of hatred, sadness and manipulation,
but without their sacrifices,
we probably wouldn't be here today,
and it's all because they stayed strong.....

What about the struggles that the other people in the time are dealing with?
People such as the coureur de bois and the habitants also had many struggles of their own
However the Fille du roi had to struggle the most and the worst
Let's compare them!
Compare and contrast the struggles
Habitant
Coureur de bois
Fille du roi
How they interacted with eachother
The habitants were french settlers who usually recieved a piece of land from a seigneur (Owner of land) and grew crops on it. WHile most of them just farmed, others owned shops and businesses as well.

Struggles they faced:
- Could run ut of food during cold weather
- Had to pay the seigneur with crops and/or money
Reading comprehension stratgies I used:
While reading a variety of different texts, I was always making predictions using my previous knowledge on the topic. I would sometimes also compare and connect any new information I learned to some of the facts that I already knew.
The strategies I used to create an effective media piece (and how I can improve):
To make this media piece effective I first made sure that all my information was not all in one big block of text, I seperated into smaller paragraphs and only included the important details so that it wouldn't bore anyone.
Coureur de bois
- Fille du roi: Some of the Fille Du Roi married to coureur de bois. The coureur de bois were out traveling and trading most of the time so the fille du roi cared for the house and any children herself. When the coureur de bois came back he would be tired and angry and so he would take it out on his wife.
Habitant
- Fille du roi: Some of the Fille Du Roi married to Habitants. Habitants were usually at home and did not respect their wives. The fille du roi would have to serve hedemanding husband all day, take care of their children, clean up around the house and work the land all day.
Extras
The coureur de bois (also known as runner of the woods) were unlicensed traders who traveled the forests of New France to trade in their items for Beaver Pelts and Fur. During their travels they learned the way of the native people.

Struggles they faced:
- Items could be taken away if they are discovered without a license
- Plagued by mosquitos during visits to St. Lawerence river
Once again, the Fille du roi were woman who came to new france manipulaed into thinking they would have a fresh new life, but were tortured and forced to populate the country for nothing in return.

Struggles they faced:
-The Fille du Roi’s were not allowed to leave New France
- Did not get MOST of what they were promised (E.g. Presents, Homes, etc.)
- Acted as slaves to their husbands
- No family allowed to visit in New France
- Cannot choose who they would like to marry
- Forced to populate the country every chance that they get

As you can see, the fille du roi had the greatest amount of struggles. As well as the worst.
However there are some things I can improve on such as the appearance of my presentation. My slides are the same color and include almost no pictures at all. If i have included this it woud have been more interesting for people to look at and they would most likely learn/remember more information.
