Transcript of Healthy Church: The Gospel

What is faith? Faith in what and for what? Healthy Church: What if the gospel is only about turning from sin? One of the lies of Satan is that salvation is self-improvement instead of God transformation What if the gospel is only about believing? One of the lies of Satan is that there is no change that occurs at or after salvation It is unwavering trust and dependence. It is the absolute convincement that something is the truth
It is not based on your commitment but the commitment of God based on the character of God In God pardoning your sins based on the finished work of Jesus Christ alone. In God looking at the righteousness of Christ instead of at your account That Christ suffered for our sins so we don’t have to pay for them Romans 3:22
“Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference” 1 Peter 3:18

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” Romans 3:24-26
"24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus." What faith is not Where does it come from? Mental Assent James 2:18-20

“18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" It is God's gift Ephesians 2:4-5

“4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)” Philippians 1:29

“For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake”
