Introduction to NVF Policies
NVF Policies are intended to:
Increase common understanding
Promote uniformity throughout the Organization

NVF HR Orientation
New Venture Fund prohibits any form of unlawful harassment based on:
"Employees are expected at all times to conduct themselves in a positive manner in order to promote the best interests of the Organization."
New Venture Fund strives to create a workplace free from the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.
This policy is in keeping with the intent of the Drug-Free Workplace Act.
New Venture Fund prohibits the following:
Unwelcome advances construed in a sexual manner and verbal or physical conduct of a sexual or otherwise offensive nature
Offensive comments, jokes, innuendos, and other sexually oriented statements
"Employment at-will may be terminated with or without cause and with or without notice at anytime by the employee of New Venture Funds."
Confidential Nature of Organization Affairs
The internal business affairs of the Organization, particularly confidential information, represent Organization assets that each employee has a continuing obligation to protect.
NVF has an open door policy so employees or contractors can share questions, concerns, suggestions, or complaints with someone who can address them properly.
The Organization's Compliance Officer is responsible for investigating and resolving all reported complaints and allegations concerning violations.
Smoking in New Venture Fund's
offices and during Organization-
sanctioned events is prohibited.
NVF requires employees to record time on a daily basis using time tracking software.
It is your responsibility to ensure that time is being recorded regularly and accurately.
New Venture Funds fiscal year is divided into 24 payroll periods.
Employees are paid on the 15th and last day of each month.
Each employee payroll check consists of total gross salary earned for the payroll period less all the payroll deductions.

These deductions may be pre-tax or after tax deductions that are authorized by the employee.
Employees will meet with their project managers once a year for an annual evaluation.
Salary adjustments and promotions will be based off the information from these evaluations.

Vacation leave will accrue after every pay period
A full day of leave is equivalent to 8 hours
Each employee's project manager must approve scheduling of time off in advance using the Leave Request Form
Employees are allowed 40 hours of unused vacation to rollover each year
Employees receive ten personal days per year (80 hours)
Employee is sick
Needs to care for a sick dependent
Attend school activities for a child
Attend doctors appointments
Manage unexpected life activities that may arise
Personal Leave will accrue every pay period and employees are allowed 40 hours of unused personal leave to rollover each year
Employees receive 20 hours of volunteer leave on their first day.
You are not receiving payment or other benefits as compensation for your time
The volunteer leave is not spent in a way that provides financial profit for any individuals
The volunteer activity does not substantially interfere with the performance of the employee's job duties at NVF
In times of extreme personal distress a project manager is authorized to grant a period of compassionate leave
This leave cannot exceed three days
During such period of compassionate leave, all wages and fringe benefits will continue to accrue to the affected employee
New Venture Fund will grant a leave of absence to regular full-time and regular part-time employees for:
Care of a child after birth
The care of a covered family member
A serious health condition
The event of an employee's own serious health condition
Employees will be eligible for 14 weeks of family and medical leave per year, and will be guarantee the position they had before they left or a position, or a position that has equivalent:
**An employee must have completed at least one full year of service with New Venture Fund and have worked a minimum of 1,250 hours in the twelve-month period preceding the leave to be eligible for such leave**
"The employee will be eligible for all group health benefits during the leave. Organization contributions to the health plan for the employee on leave will cease when the leave exceeds the guaranteed 14 week period."
Employees can utilize this benefit instead of vacation and personal leave.
Less than one full year of service -- 40% of salary
After one full year of service -- 60% of salary
After 5 full years of service -- 100% of salary
Active Full or Part-Time Employee
Working a minimum of 20 hours per week
Must work a minimum of 30 hours per week to be eligible for all other lines
Benefits are effective:
Medical, Dental, and Vision begin on your date of hire
All other benefits will begin on the 1st of the month following your date of hire
to Age 26
"Eligibility will end the day the child
turns 26, but COBRA continuance
rights will apply."
The following factors may not restrict eligibility:

- Replaces 60% of your pre-disability earnings
-Begins the 15th day and pays up to the maxium weekly benefit of $1,500, for 24 weeks.
-Begins on the 181st day and pays up to the maximum
monthly benefit of $10,000, until the Social Security
Normal Retirement Age.
"You may purchase additional life insurance at group rates. You may elect $20,000 to $500,000 in $10k increments. Spousal coverage option of up to 50% of employee amount to a maximum of $250k. Child coverage option of up to 10% of employee amount to a maximum of $10k."
Within 30 days of your hire, No Medical Questions
up to $100,000. Your spouse will have no medical questions up to $250,000! Late enrollees or amounts selected above these amounts will require evidence of insurability."

Participant pays full fee to the provider, and the carries reimburses the customer for services rendered, up to maximum allowance.

Women's Health & Cancer Rights
Act of 1998
Under Federal law, Group Health Plans and health insurance issuers providing benefits for mastectomy must also provide, in connection with the mastectomy for which the participant or beneficiary is receiving benefits, coverage for:
Reconstruction of the breast on which the mastectomy has been performed
Surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce symmetrical appearance
Prostheses and physical complications of mastectomy, including lymphedemas
These services must be provided in a manner determined in consultation between attending Physician and the patient.
"Premium Assistance Under Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP): If you or your children are eligible for Medicaid or CHIP and you are eligible for health coverage from your employer, you State may have a premium assistance program that can help pay for coverage.
These States use funds from their Medicaid or CHIP programs to help people who are eligible for these programs, but also have access to health insurance through their employer. If you or your children are not eligible for Medicaid or CHIP, you will not be eligible for these premium assistance programs."
