Transcript of Living a Holy Lifestyle

Romans 6:18-19
A Broken but Helpful Illustration
Making the Point Plain
Why Use Slavery?
Why tell us it is an illustration?
Helping our Weakness
This illustration is the means from God to help us to live in the reality of why Believers don't continue in sin even though they are under grace.
It is effective because of its familiarity to the Romans as well as being a lasting image we all understand.
It emphasizes what Paul wants to make plain.

Slaves are under the power and authority of their masters.
It communicates that everyone is under one of two masters.
It coincides with the Gospel call of Christ.
"Take up your cross"
"Take my yoke upon you"
God's Work in His Slaves
My Righteousness is Secured
Being Secured

My current Rightness

Philippians 2:12

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,”
Hebrews 12:14

“Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:7-8

“7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. 8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.”
