why does the sun damage our eyes and skin?
by: Jamie Lynn Ratliff
How we see
The eye doesn't actually see objects instead, it sees the light that they reflect or give off. light rays enter the eye though transparent tissue. the eye changes the rays into electrical signals. The signals are sent to the brain, which interprets them as visual images.
Each eye is set in a protective cone shaped cavity in the skull. Six muscles move the eye in much the same way the strings move parts of a puppet.Around the eye are the eye lids, the conjunctiva, the lacrimal glands, and the lacrimal sac. Three layers of tissue form the wall of the eye. (1) The sclera and the cornea, (2) The uveal tract, and (3) The retina.
Inside the eye is a clear, jelly like substance called the vitreous humor.that controls about 80% of the human eye ball. It also helps maintain the pressure and the shape within your eyes.
20% of cataract cases are due from UV rays 3.2 million go blind every year do to prolonged UV exposure, and the sun damages skin too!! skin cancer is related to sun damage particularity sunburn that occurred on child's heads. It also is caused by long term exposure to the suns rays unprotected skin is exposed to the suns UV rays and changes take place in the structure of your skin cells. UVA: radiation is able to go through glass and may cause premature aging and wrinkling of the skin. So most people that use sunscreen are most likely to be protected by bad sun rays.
