VSO Nepal: Volunteer
February - April 2015
Recently I worked as a volunteer for VSO in rural Nepal for 2 months on International Citizen Service Programme. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and we achieved a number of things to help improve the lives (focus on health knowledge & livelihoods development) of a community in Baglung. We achieved this through facilitating workshops & sessions engaging with both community members and school pupils and using interactive methods to ensure participation. Main achievements include implementing a gender equality awareness campaign with workshops in the local school. Other sessions that took place on the placement in other communities included nutrition & child health, SRH drama workshop, child marriage & early pregnancy, uterine prolapse check-up camp & smokeless stove awareness campaign & training to combat respiratory issues within the community.
The area I was in was unaffected by the Nepal Earthquake, to donate visit: dec.org.uk
