Transcript of Tanning

What Tanning Does To You How tanning beds are different from sunlight So why do people go tanning? Tanning increases your risks of skin cancer. From tanning, you can get melanoma. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer.(Gutfeld). Also, tanning wrinkles your skin way before it usually should. Your body's ability to fight infections is lowered.(Hoffman). After knowing just this, why would you want to put yourself at risk? Tanning beds give of 4-10 times more harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays than natural sunlight.(Gutfeld). Fake
Tanning Some people have naturally pale skin and it's hard for them to get tan in the sun. People like this are even more at risks for the harmful effects of tanning. For example, some people want a "natural glow". Tanning is not natural and doesn't change pigment cells, but attacks your blood vessels.(Gutfeld). In research, 30-40% of white teen
girls and 11% of white teen guys admit to fake tanning at least once, and many are addicted.(Hoffman). Work Cited •Gutfeld, Greg, Linda Rao, and Maureen Sangiorgio. "Fake and bake." Prevention May 1993: 16. General Reference Center GOLD. Web. 11 Dec. 2012.

So basically Example of what could happen There's really no point to fake tan. you can have this on your skin with tanning Or you can look younger and have nice skin. Wrinkles No wrinkles Next time you pass a tanning salon, don't go in. Just keep passing by. Think about
how nice your skin will be if you don't go tanning. “Ever since I was a little girl, my mom instilled in me the importance of protecting my skin from the sun. I follow that advice to this day — on the mountain or off.”(American Academy of Dermatology).
-Olympic Alpine Skier Julia Mancuso She is worried about the sun's harmful rays. If tanning beds are 4-10 times worse, why would anyone want to use them? I've stayed out too long in the sun plenty of times. I usually wake up the next day burned and in pain. If tanning beds are even more harmful to us, imagine what would happen if you accidentally stayed in one too long. Believe me, the outcome would not be something pretty. There's no point to even risk staying in too long with the effects tanning has on our bodies. My Mistake
