Programs to Assist Small Business in Securing Federal Contracts HubZone Program – Historically Underutilized Business Zones is a program that was established to assist business owners in distressed rural and urban areas.
This program encourages economic development and creates jobs.
The demographic areas entitled to this program are defined in the census tract of the internal revenue code. SBA also stores this information in their database.
You must be a U.S. citizen with sole proprietorship and 35 percent of the employees must live in a HubZone. Programs to Assist Small Business in Securing Federal Contracts Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Program – This program was establish to award 3 percent of prime contracts to the service-disabled veteran-owned small business (0 - 100% disability)
It’s Purpose is to:
Reserving contracts exclusively for service-disabled veteran businesses;
Encouraging and facilitating participation by service-disabled veteran businesses in competitions for award of Agency contracts; Programs to Assist Small Business in Securing Federal Contracts Woman-Owned Small Business Program – This program was put into place to encourage women owned businesses to apply for federal government contracts. The business must be 51 percent owned, controlled and operated by a U.S. citizen that is female.

This program directs acquisition officials to get involved and take appropriate action to facilitate, preserve, strengthen and encourage women owned businesses to secure contracts. The Government spends approximately $105 billion annually on contracting opportunities.

Small Business Administration (SBA) was created to assist small businesses so they could prosper and grow, in return this is boosting the U.S. economy.

SBA establish offices, offer training and mentoring programs, provide information, advice and funding for small businesses doing business with the federal government. Promote the competitive viability of these firms by providing contract, technical, and management assistance.
