Image of the Unseen God
"The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, 'Look, the Lamb of God!' When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus."
John 1:35-37
1. He takes away our sin.
"Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, 'What do you want?' They said, 'Rabbi' (which means Teacher), 'where are you staying?' 'Come,' He replied, 'and you will see.' So they went and saw where He was staying, and spent that day with Him. It was about the tenth hour."
John 1:38-39
2. He never disappoints.
"Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, 'We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, ‘You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas’ (which, when translated, is Peter)."
John 1:40-42
3. He holds the power and authority to redefine us.
"The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, He said to him, 'Follow me.' Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida."
John 1:43
4. He possesses authority to initiate a relationship for our joy.
“Philip found Nathanael and told him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’ ‘Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?’ Nathanael asked. ‘Come and see,’ said Philip. When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, ‘Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false.’ ‘How do you know me?’ Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, ‘I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.’ Then Nathanael declared, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.’”
John 1:45-49
5. He knows us completely.
"Jesus said, 'You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that.' He then added, 'I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.'"
John 1:50-51
6. He is the house of God.
"The seventy-two returned with joy and said, 'Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.' He replied, "...Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
Luke 10:17-20
"Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
C.S. Lewis
"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs-- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
Romans 8:16-18
"Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as he is pure."
1 John 3:2-3
"Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him."
Psalm 34:8
“This is not so much a merely predictive utterance as a declaration of what Jesus will make him.”
D.A. Carson
"Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Luke 7:50
"In Christ, God declares me to be ‘righteous, washed, pure and set apart for Him’. And yet there is nothing my experience to suggest that these things could be so in and of myself. If I live by my own estimate of my life, I act accordingly. Alternatively, I can surrender my life to the lordship of Jesus and live by God’s assessment of my life. So whose word will I live by? I am glad to live by God’s word and the blessed release that it brings, looking by faith to Him for who I am, looking in love to my brothers for what I do. By His word, I am directed outward, never inward."

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it."
Revelation 2:17
"The real Son of God is at your side. He is beginning to turn you into the same kind of thing as Himself. He is beginning, so to speak, to 'inject' His kind of life and thought, His Zoe, into you; beginning to turn the tin soldier into a live man. The part of you that does not like it is the part that is still tin."
C.S. Lewis
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him."
John 6:44
"My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand."
John 10:27-29
"If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, 'Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,' even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You."
Psalm 139:8-12
"When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. …When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, 'Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it.' He was afraid and said, 'How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.' Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz."
Genesis 28:11-12, 16-19
"It pleases the Father that
all
fullness should be in Christ; therefore there is nothing but emptiness anywhere else."
W. Gadsby
“He who has God and everything else has no more than he who has God only.”
C.S. Lewis
"Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. …As for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all Your deeds."
Psalm 73:25-26, 28
