Using technology to provide visual aids to present learning standards will help to gain students attention along with providing a way for students to share their thoughts
By using a technology based method, I am providing opportunities for the students to learn how to use technology as a means to communication and collaboration as they articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively
I will know that the students have learned how to write an opinion by using a rubric to score their final draft.
The teaching strategies that will work best for my students are:
Whole group Modeling
Small Group Discussions
Independent Practice
Activities
Introduce Opinion Writing using an Anchor Chart
Watch Video of "Hey Little Ant"
Write Your Opinion on if the boy should Squish or Not Squish the ant
The school district has purchased Smartboards & 1-1 IPads along with wireless internet connection in the classroom

What worked well? What could be improved?
Although I have not implemented this plan as of yet, based on the ability of my students, I believe that they would succeed in using the Smartboard and IPads to share their thoughts. I also believe that the anchor charts and graphic organizers will help with their writing. I would like to improve documenting the collaboration between the students by having the students to video their discussions.
Bibliography
The learners will write about a topic stating an opinion, supply reasons that support the opinion,
use linking words (e.g., because, and, also) to connect opinion and reasons, and provide a concluding
statement or section.

The learner can revise writing with help from adults and peers to focus on a topic and strengthen
writing.

The learner can participate in collaborative conversations to improve student writing.
Use words and phrases acquired through conversations, reading and being read to, and
responding to texts, including using adjectives, and adverbs to describe.

The learner can edit writing with help from adults and peers to focus on a topic and strengthen
writing.
