Censorship Should Censorship Play a Role in Society Today? Censorship is suppression of speech or other communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient to the general body of people as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body I'm torn between the two: Positive censorship in the case of; TV shows, video games and books would keep children from being exposed to inappropraite behaviors. Negative censorship when a government in a country uses censorship to block their citizens from learning the horrible truths of their pasts. Media censorship is necessary into todays society because of the graphic nature that has been embedded within our; movies, tv shows, video games and books. From 1960 to 2009 the rate of violence has increase by 7,255,169 cases per year in the United States alone. If all the graphic violence, explicit sex scenes, and vulgar language are prohibited you might see a sharp decline in violence down the road. The media has to take some responsiblity and the role, that is why I feel censorship is important in this area of society. This picture protrays the role the Chinese government plays within their society by limiting the citizens access to true political issues. For example this web search deminstrates Chinas ability to cover-up the true acts taken my the government.
