Transcript of One need not be a Chamber-Emily Dickinson-670

Stanza 1
Need not be a house or a chamber to be haunted, it could be even a mind haunted, the brain has corridors (passages with different ides and thoughts) and due to it being mental and lonely thoughts and that fact that shes alone in her mind its is like a nightmare within and one where there is no escape or help with others
Stanza 2
Far safer, of a Midnight Meeting
External Ghost
Than its interior Confronting —
That Cooler Host.
Stanza 3
Far safer, through an Abbey gallop,
The Stones a’chase —
Than Unarmed, one’s a’self encounter —
In lonesome Place —
Stanza 4
Ourself behind ourself, concealed —
Should startle most —

Be Horror’s least.

One need not be a Chamber — to be Haunted —
One need not be a House —
The Brain has Corridors — surpassing
Material Place —
The midnight meeting of the external ghost is far safer than the interior (locked in a room or her mind )also shows that the brain usually exaggerates feelings that scare you and also being alone with thoughts is much worse that being in reality with scary experiences
Far safer is the other world through the abbey than the to encounter one's one own mind- shows that again the world is safer than the mind
The herself behind her exterior mask (face of emotions or even mental shield) may even startle the assassin hid in her apartment (will scare the hidden devil of mixing bad thoughts or even also could mean it could start the evil thoughts by startling and starting the cycle
Stanza 5
The Body — borrows a Revolver —
He bolts the Door —
O’erlooking a superior spectre —
Or More —
The character carries a revolver and guards the house, overlooking the greater phantom (poet)
