Managing DFS Namespaces (File and Print)
Transcript of Managing DFS Namespaces (File and Print)
Question The Last!
The Staging quota of the replicated folder?
Question The First
Your network contains multiple Active Directory sites. You have a Distributed File System (DFS) namespace that has a folder target in each site. You discover that some client computers connect to DFS targets in other sites. You need to ensure that the client computers only connect to a DFS target in their respective site. What should you modify?
The Delegation of the namespace?
The referral settings of the namespace
Why is referral settings the right answer!?
The Cache duration of the namespace?
The properties of Active Directory SITE LINKS?
Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. The domain contains two servers named Server1 and Server2. Both servers run Windows Server 2012. Both servers have the File and Storage Services server role. The DFS namespaces role service, and the DFS Replication role service installed. Server1 and Server2 are part of a Distributed File System (DFS) Replication group named Group1.
Server1 and Server2 are separated by a low-speed WAN connection. You need to limit the amount of bandwidth that DFS can use to replicate between Server1 and Server2. What should you modify?
The referral order of the namespace?
Picking which server is FIRST or LAST in a namespace won't help at ALL with bandwidth!
Remember we are trying to CONSERVE bandwidth. Priority doesn't do that with REPLICATION.
The schudule of the replication group!
Why is this the RIGHT answer?!
The properties of Active Directory sites?
Scheduling Will make to so that the files are syncronized at a single point in time, making for less overall traffic, but a larger amount at the schedualed time.
While this might sound good, this option is only storing the information for the Referal computer in the name space.
Staging quota will allow a file that has been changed twice between the replication periods to be stored with the newer version being replicated and the older modified version going into the staging area.
