Transcript of Superheroes

What is a Superhero?

A super hero is a fictional character that possesses extraordinary or super human powers. They can do things far greater than the ordinary human being. They are dedicated to protect Mankind (Oxford and Wikipedia, 2013).

Batman uses intimidation to instill fear into others whilst using his expert interrogation skills. He is in peak human condition with amazing strength, stamina, agility and reflexes. Batman is a superior detective, scientist, tactician, battle commander and martial arts master.
A young Bruce Wayne (Batman) watched his parents die, shot by Joe Chill a known criminal. At this time Leslie Thompkins supported Bruce and continued to raise him with the help of Alfred Pennyworth, his butler. Bruce swore an oath to destroy criminal activity and as such spent his youth traveling the world training to be the ultimate crime fighter.
Batman is human and therefore has no magic powers and still requires food and sleep. Though very agile and well trained he finds fighting ranged and mobile opponents difficult.
Batman's bullet proof batsuit is made of kevlar and titanium and resistant to impacts. Batman's utility belt contains field equipment including nerve toxins, explosives, batarangs and a re breather. He also has multiple forms of transportation, batmobile, batcycle and batplane.
Steven Rogers was once a skinny art student who wished for nothing more than to join the army to fight the Nazi's in the 1940's. Because of his poor health he was rejected. He was then asked to undergo an experimental treatment which turned him into a super-soldier.

Due to the super-soldier serum that Captain America was injected with, his body is considered to be a 'perfect specimen'. Captain America's strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, and durability are at the highest limits of natural human potential. His battle experience and training also make him an expert tactician and an excellent field commander.

Despite the fact that Captain America has the super-soldier serum running through his body, he is still only human. This means that he suffers from all the weaknesses of a normal human, however he seems to be immune to disease and ages at a slower rate.

Captain America's costume design changes many times however he sticks to his red, white and blue to support his country. He uses a circular shaped shield which was presented to him by President Roosevelt. This shield is nearly indestructible and is used for offensive and defensive purposes.

Iron Man possesses powered armor that gives him superhuman strength and durability, flight, and an array of weapons ("Iron Man", Wikipedia).Iron Man's standard offensive weapons have always been the repulsor rays that are fired from the palms of his gauntlets. Other weapons built into various incarnations of the armor include: the uni-beam projector in its chest; pulse bolts; an electromagnetic pulse generator; and a defensive energy shield that can be extended up to 360 degrees.
He is conceited, a womanizer and an alcoholic (in short, his personality is his weakness)... also he is human, without his armor, any object as knives or bullet can kill him.

Though Stark's wide array of armors("Iron Man", Wikipedia) have many different abilities, they are alike both in design and in that they are made of incredibly strong fictional materials bolstered by a force field. Every suit has a self-contained environment, assorted onboard weapons systems, enhanced strength, flight, and various communications arrays and sensors (such as radar and radio).
Hulk possesses super human strength. He can leap great distances, run at amazing speed, hold his breath under water, regenerate body tissue and organs, has immunity against all disease, produce destructive shock waves by clapping his hands or stomping his foot (Marvel, 2013).
Hulk's biggest weakness is being vulnerable to other human feelings and emotions, especially his much loved Betty. He has a childlike instinct so just simply hearing a baby crying can bring him out of his rage (Wikipedia, 2013)
When Bruce Banner turns into the green skinned Hulk, what more of a costume do you need? Overtime he has been seen in various costumes but we all know Hulk to wear his trademark knee high purple pants (Kistler, 2012).
Thor is the Asgardian God of Thunder and the son of Odin, All-father of Asgard and Gaea, the Elder Earth Goddess. With the combination of these two worlds, Thor is the greatest defender of them both. Thor is the mightiest warrior of Asgard, a founding member of Avengers and one of the most powerful beings on Earth.

As the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor commands the thunder, the lightning the wind and all the elements of the storm with his hammer Mjolnir. Along with complete mastery of the weather he can open chasms of the earth, he can drain the life force out of an opponents body. He has superhuman strength, godlike invulnerability, superhuman speed, stamina, senses, able to heal himself, longevity, super breath, flight, able to transcend dimensions, self sustenance, earth control, energy manipulation, memory alteration and all-tongue.

Warrior's madness is also known as sin unpardonable. It is the most forbidden malady in Asgard by law of Odin. Despite allowing Thor to increase his strength and stamina tenfold, this threatens, Thor's sanity. Thor is also susceptible to the highest forms of magic, vulnerable to cosmic beings and can be physically hurt by the strongest of the beings.

An American billionaire playboy,( "Iron Man", Wikipedia) industrialist and ingenious engineer, Tony Stark suffers a severe chest injury during a kidnapping in which his captors attempt to force him to build a weapon of mass destruction. He instead creates a powered suit of armor to save his life and escape captivity. He later uses the suit and successive versions to protect the world as Iron Man.
Bruce Banner was born in Dayton, Ohio. He was a brilliant scientist and worked as a nuclear physicist for the U.S Defence Department in a research facility in New Mexico. While he was supervising a trial experiment of a gamma bomb that he designed, a teenager called Rick Jones wandered into the testing field and Bruce went to save him. As he shoved Rick to safety Bruce was struck with the full force of the gamma radiation bomb blast. When he awoke the following day his body had mutated and the Hulk was born (Kistler, 2012).
Our Super Heroes have seen the good and bad of this world and worlds beyond. However they stand together with one common goal, to protect mankind. They all have their own uniqueness that makes them a super hero. We allow them to live far past our normal life expectancy and live on like super heroes for many generations to come as we share the stories of extraordinary courage and bravery that they convey in their amazing stories. I wonder what the next chapters will bring!

Over the years, Thor has worn a variety of cosutmes, most of which have been ornamental but occasionally providing protection. Thor's costumes is mainly a fashion statement, given that he is immune to most technologies and magic. He wears scale-like mail, knee high boots, red cape, winged helmet and several ornamental disks.
