However, when a girl losses a beauty pageant, it can be much more damaging. She can start to think, "Oh I'm not good enough or pretty enough to win." thereby lowering self esteem and hindering confidence in a negative way, that is not proactive Mothers are forcing their children to dress in skimpy outfits, wear gallons of makeup, get jersey shore spray tans, wax & shave, and even get botox!
Having to go through all of this is very time consuming and unemployable to 4 and 5 year olds. It doesn't how much they cry and beg, their mothers force it upon them in hopes of getting the crown. Many psychologist experts agree that participation in activities that focus on physical appearance, such as beauty pageants, at an early age can influence teens to have self-esteem, body image and self-worth issues. Women Activists agree that beauty pageants cause girls to focus on their appearance, which is not necessary in order to be beautiful.
Beauty pageants teach girls that the most important thing, is to be beautiful, so you have a chance. Beauty Pageants promotes a narrow definition of what is beautiful, forcing girls to think they must change to meet those standards. Beauty Pageants can teach life lessons Beauty Pageants What you really need to know I don't know about you, but that sounds traumatizing. Girls that participate in beauty pageants have an enormous pressure to be thin, in order to win the crown. This puts pressure on the girls to go through extraneous steps to be thin, which is usually unhealthy. Ie eating disorders, dieting, etc Beauty pageants are damaging to health and create unrealistic standards of beauty, and is hindering the girls that participate. Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes a voice to get the meaning across, step up and have your voice heard so that the war on beauty pageants will cease.
