Square of Hope
Square of Hope
This quilt square, or "square of hope", was to memorialize the 9/11 terrorist attack in the United States of America. The image on the top left is the 9/11 memorial in New York City that honors the victims of attack. This is signficant because it shows the impact this terrible event had on America. The top right picture shows pottery made by children to memorialize the attack. This is significant because it shows how children were affected. The bottom picture shows troops remembering the attack and showing pride in their remembrance. This is most significant because they risk their lives to fight those terrorist that attacked.
Terrorism is different from other forms of warfare because it is an attack rather than a mutual agreement of war. Also, it uses the fear of others to accomplish its goals. Terrorism is an invisible attack, with no warning to those being attacked. An example of this is the 9/11 attack. The United States and the rest of the world has responded to terrorism with stricter enforcements and war launch.
