Like most Latin Americans, Brazilians love futbol, and their
national team is one of the world's best
Peru was the heart of the Inca
Empire. It is home to Andes
Mountains, Amazon Basin and
Pacific coastline.
Belize is kind of unique in the
region; it was a British colony,
so most of the people speak
English.
Costa Rica has become a popular
destination for ecotourism.
Cuba, the
largest Caribbean island
is a communist country ruled
for a long time by
Fidel Castro
Ecuador gets it's name from it's latitude,
the Equator runs through it.
Puerto Rico is a U.S. "protectorate",
which means the people are U.S. citizens,
but they govern themselves and don't get
a vote for President.
Bolivia gets it's name from Simon Bolivar,
he is basically Latin America's version of
George Washington
Panama was chosen for the worlds most important canal because it is the narrowest point of the C. American Isthmus.
The countries of Haiti and the Dominican Republic share the island of Hispanola (which is where Colombus first landed
Much of Brazil is covered by the Amazon
Rainforest.
VENEZUELA IS HOME TO ANGEL FALLS,
THE HIGHEST WATERFALL IN THE WORLD.
The Argentine/Brazilian Border is home
to Iguazu Falls, Higher than Niagra Falls
and over 2 miles long.
MACHU PICCHU is an ancient Incan city high in the Andes Mtns. It wasn't even discovered until 1911.
Bolivia is home to the Salar de Uyuni, the Uyuni Salt Sea.
The Blue Hole in Belize is one
of the most popular diving spots
in the world. It is about 1000 ft.
across and 407 feet deep straight
down.
Teotihuacan is found in Mexico. Teotihuacan is also known for its large pyramids, the Avenue of the Dead, and numerous colorful, well-preserved murals. This city was built before the Maya and Aztec civilizations.
