After they win the war, the Britain gains even more territory especially in the Middle East and Africa due to the League of Nations Mandates after the war

It becomes increasingly difficult to control its overseas empire
While distracted with WWI, Ireland begins Independence movement, leading to Irish Independence in 1921
After World War I women's suffrage movements succeeded and women gained the right to vote
There were also several new innovations in medicine and technology as there were new injuries and illnesses that had to be taken care of
The country was weakened due to high number of casualties and financial damage from total war

early 1900's Italy is nominally allied with Germany and Austria-Hungary~ because there was hostility between Italy and Austria over territory, Italy was very liable to shift)
in 1915, Italy switched sides and fought with the Triple Entente; the war led Italy into political and social turmoil
at the treaty of Versailles, Italy got nothing and was left alone
World War 2
in 1922, Mussolini takes power and puts an end to 3 years of political and social unrest; rules with a fascist regime
in 1935, invades Ethiopia; shortly after, Mussolini forms an axis with Nazi Germany~Italian forces occupy British territory of Somaliland in east Africa
Italy declared war on the USSR; allies capture Sicily and Mussolini, sign an armistice with the Allies and declare war on Germany
Mussolini, who had been rescued by Germans was later executed by Italians
-) Italy joins the United Nations

Italy was awarded small territories of Austria
havoc caused socialist uprisings this made it easy for Mussolini to gain control and impose a fascist regime
discontent with the Allies led Italy to side with Germany in WW2

-Including carrying out anti-semitism policies (such as extermination camps)
-Freed from German hands by September of 1944

-Paris remains undamaged throughout the war
-Forced to grant independence to Syria & Lebanon before the war ended

Part of the winning group, the Allies, and of the big 3 powers that decided the fate of post-war Europe
Just as in World War I, the country lost many lives and it was in major debt especially with the US which assisted the country with supplies and assistance (Lend-Lease)
Its colonies begin to declare independence one after another over the next 20 years, largely due to WWII, which severely weakened the United Kingdom
The UK decolonizes and grants independence to most colonies without threat of military action causing it to lose most of its empire.
Britain turned to democratic parties and Britain's Labour party created a welfare state
New scientific advances and developments in art
People steered away from classic art and began creating art that is more modern, and abstract (ex: Pop Art)
The basic structure for DNA is discovered at Cambridge University in England
Britain becomes known for its fashion and most iconic band, the Beatles

Most of Europe was taken over by Germany; after D-Day, Europe was being released, and was eventually freed from Nazi control. Nazi Germany was ultimately defeated at the Battle of Berlin. Germany fell under the control of the allies.Austria was "liberated” by Allies in 1945.
European suffered from many casualities; more than 9 million soldiers and 6 million civilians were killed, adn injuring millions more. Movement of soldiers spread disease. The main areas affected by the war were France, Belgium, and Poland. severly declined, and restoration costs drained British and French economies. Albania was invaded and conquered by Italy in 1939. Austria wanted to unite with Germany,
and Latvia gaind independence,
but struggled during war times,
similar to Lithuania.
