What did the ERP system achieve at JHI?
What was the main reason for using an ERP system at JHI?
The main reason for using an ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning) at JHI was to improve data quality and reporting. They chose to use a centralized ERP system instead of what they were using (several different business applications that were not fully integrated.)
How did the ERP system that JHI adopted help address technical challenges?
John Hopkins Institutions, Maryland's largest private employer has more than 45,000 full- time staff members at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health system, Johns Hopkins University, and several other hospitals and institutions. To improve data quality and reporting, JHI decided to use a centralized ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning) instead of several different business applications that were not fully integrated. JHI faced technical challenges in adopting an ERP system. We will look further into how the ERP system helped make Johns Hopkins Institutions better integrated and centralized
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is business management software that allows an organization to use a system of integrated applications to manage the business. ERP software integrates all facets of an operation, including development, manufacturing, sales and marketing. So, with this being said, at JHI the ERP system helped improve data quality and reporting through different applications such as the IBM power 570 servers. This application helped manage the business by allowing JHI to report data in a centralized manner, making operations easier by organizing data better.

-JHI chose BearingPoint's SAP applications with IBM Power 570 servers as the hardware platform.
-BearingPoint is a multinational management and technology consulting firm (independent) headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It has operations in 17 countries and around 3,500 employees and is one of the largest management consultancies in Europe.
-They also decided to use server clusters to make the system more fault tolerant, and it installed a storage area network (SAN) for high performance. - In doing all of this, the ERP system now provides a centralized method of gathering information for the entire organization.
What is IBM Power 570 servers?
-IBM is a leading US computer manufacturer
- The power 570 is for mid-to-large database serving,the Power 570 provides a system
designed for demanding, critical,
back-end work loads.
The Problem???
A storage area network (SAN) is a dedicated network that provides access to consolidated, block level data storage. SANs are primarily used to make storage devices, such as disk arrays, tape libraries, and optical jukeboxes, accessible to servers so that the devices appear like locally attached devices to the operating system
