The Human Heart And How It Works Quick facts How does the heart work? The blood vessels Your heart is the size of your clenched fist. This is the human heart Heart Problems Prevention if yu do not look after your heart, you could end up with serious heart problems wehich can prove fatal.However you cna prevent heart problems. These prevention can be fitted into your everyday life. Here are a few preventions: Stop smoking Exercise This is the human heart. Our heart pumps about 5l of blood very minute. In 70 years,our heart will beat 2.5billion times. The heart can produce enough
pressure to squirt blood to a distance of 30 feet. Blood takes about 20 seconds to circulate thorugh the body. Veins Arteries Health Problems Consequences The veins carry blood from your body to the heart. This blood has little oxygen in it as it has been removed by the body. The heart then pumps the blood to the lungs where carbon dioxide is removed and we breathe it out. Oxygen is added to the blood and returned to the heart ready for distribution to the body.

The arteries carry blood away from our hert.The arteries carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body. This blood contains oxygen from the lungs. The heart pumps the blood around the arteries. This is responsible for the pulses we can feel on our wrist and necks.

Capillaries When glucose is absorbed by the small intestine it goes into the capillaries in the wall of the small intestine.Oxygen goes into capillaries that are inside the walls of the lungs. Blood is pumped thorugh the capillaries and all the other blood vessels by the heart. The heart works by pumping blood around our body so we get the oxygen we need.
