Do you have a special someone in your life?
Do you want to be with them forever?
Many teen couples get married every year, why shouldn't you?
100 teens, ages 15-18, were asked how well prepared they are for marriage, this is what they said.
Even though it might seem nice to be married
to your partner, most teenage marriages come with some problems.
Teen marriages are two to three times more likely to end up in a divorce, than marriages between people 25 years and older. Those aren't very good odds!
About 3 in 10 teen girls in the US get pregnant at least one time before they turn 20. That means more than 700 thousand teen pregnancies every year.
4.5% of the 21.7 million teens in America, get married each year.
That is about 976 thousand teen marriages every year.
One of the biggest problems when it comes to teen love relationships is pregnancy. Pregnancy is the #1 reason why teens get married at such a young age.
Teen marriage and pregnancy can cause a distraction which leads to a serious loss of education. Parenthood is the number one reason that teen girls drop out of school.
Over half of teens in the United states report dating regularly, but there are also many consequences when being in a relationship or getting married in your teen years.
Useful strategies to overcome related problems:
Wait a while until you’re stable and mature enough to handle marriage.
If you’re pregnant, talk with a counselor about a plan and to receive help.
If you think that you are being abused in anyway by your dating partner or spouse, immediately seek professional help.
Talk to your partner and take your time when making serious decisions.
Think about the consequences before making a commitment!

If you know a friend or another teen going through related struggles, do not ignore it. Talk to them about it and ask them how they feel. If you don’t think they’re making wise decisions, talk to a responsible adult and make sure they’re seeking professional help during serious situations.
In the famous play Romeo and Juliet, Juliet was asked to marry a character named Paris who was older than her. Paris told Juliet's father, "Younger than she are happy mothers made."
Her father responded with, "And too soon marr'd are those so early made." From this passage in the book, her father knew best, by explaining that Juliet should wait to get married because of the consequences that were possible. Wait until you're mature enough, and don't make hasty decisions when it comes to life changing events.
