Understanding The Mentee
What It means to be Indigenous ???
Three 'legal' tests:

BLOOD: Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent,
IDENTITY: Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, and
COMMUNITY: Be recognised as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people

AIME will run Mentor activities throughout the year, to give you a chance to meet all the other Mentors in WA in a social scene.


Mentor of the Month
Each month we will be recognising a mentor who will receive a prize and go into the draw for a Mentor of the Year award. There may even be a national award.

Program Rules and Child Protection Video
PROGRAM RULES AND CHILD PROTECTION
STARTS: Monday 10th June, 9.30am - 3pm

This program allows AIME to open its doors to Year 9 to 12 students in schools beyond the 30-minute radius of our Core Program and for those who cannot make it onto the University campus each week.
Mentors and mentees involved in the Outreach Program will have the chance participate in 12 AIME sessions spread across 4 full-day visits to the university campus across the months of June to October.
The Outreach program will have a year 9, 10 and 11 & 12 component.

MENTOR MEMBERSHIP
Tutor Squads: Responsible for rounding up the team every week, making sure that everyone get’s to and from the school and takes the roll at the session


Sessions: Collects and returns the mentees to and from the busses and makes sure they get into the right room for the AIME session, with the help of the school teachers.

PRE & POST TRAINING
TUTOR SQUADS
TO BE CONFIRMED!
Squads of AIME Mentors will travel to schools during the 13 week program period to provide further academic and personal support for the students.

This program stream provides Mentors with an extra level of responsibility as an AIME staff member will not accompany them, thus requiring a higher level of maturity and accountability.

Tutor Squad mentors will be emailed in the next couple of weeks with more details.
Year 10 Leadership Program
This program includes sessions on Racism, Year 11 and 12 Subject Selection, Résumé Building and Writing your First Speech as Prime Minister.
As the name suggests the focus is leadership and requires a higher level of maturity from both mentors and mentees

Year 9 Program
This program stream will require you to step outside your comfort zone for sessions such as Art, Drama, Respect and Hip Hop.
STARTS: Thursday 23rd May, 10.30 - 11.30am
YEAR 9 & 10 CORE PROGRAM
2 Days before: Briefing email (what to expect in the session to come)

1 Day before: Friendly reminder SMS

On the Day: Mentor pre-session brief 15 min prior to session start time.
After each session there is also a 15 min Mentor de-brief.
