Guidelines of Practice
Early Child Development sets the foundation for life long learning, behavior and health
Partnerships with families and communities strengthen the ability of early childhood settings to meet the needs of young children
Respect for diversity, equity, and inclusions are prerequisites for honouring children’s rights, optimal development and learning
A planned curriculum supports early learning

My Best Start Hub Family Tree
It is so important to be knowledgeable about the Five Domains of School Readiness to Learn so that we can focus our services based on the needs in the community.
As we know, in "Our Children, Their Future" the 2011 Best Start Network Report, children in our community scored very low in Physical Health and Well-Being. They also scored low in Social Competence and Emotional Maturity. As a site supervisor it would be important to me to assure that new staff are aware of and familiar with the Five Domains of School Readiness to Learn, especially the domains in which we know that children are struggling with here in Sault Ste. Marie so that we are better able to meet the needs of the children and families in our community. Currently our Best Start Hub Calendar addresses each domain multiple times each week. I would strive to continue to uphold and support this effort ensuring that new and exciting ways to support each domain are implimented.
The Six Guidelines of Practice are at the core of the Best Start Hub. As a Supervisor I will continue to use this framework as a guideline and a tool when mentoring staff as it was mentored to me by my Supervisor.

are at the roots of what we do each day with children and families. Our values say a lot about who we are and what is important to us. They make me proud to be a Child Care Algoma/Best Start Hub employee because they're not just words, they're actions that we take each and every day.
I feel I have made steps into this position with fortitude and dedication by mentoring new students and new staff as they come in to the Best Start Hub. I strive to be the best role model I can be and thoroughly enjoy being out in the Community as a proud representative of Child Care Algoma and the Best Start Hub. No matter what, I have and will continue to have a confidence and passion for my career as an Early Years Educator at the Best Start Hub.
In the past, I have been appointed designate in charge multiple times by the Program Coordinator
I helped create the current orientation package for students and supply staff
I have supervisory experience and I have stepped into the supervisory role with peers in the past and made the transition smoothly.
I have brainstormed ideas that I would like to implement as Site Supervisor:
Team building exercises before/after monthly staff meetings
Work with E.L.P. to set up Early Learning Environment at Best Start Hub~Holy Angels Site and Willowgrove Drop-in Play Group
Create a motivational statistics tracker (goal thermometer) for the whole team (to build on the individual statistics tracking)
Implement a suggestion box for Best Start Hub staff and for families who visit the Best Start Hub
Continue using “Catch a Good Feeling” to motivate individuals
Implement motivators for team rewards
To understand where we're going we must first understand where we come from.
