Caroline Channing is shown as being attractive, charismatic and also intelligent with her college degree in business.
In one episode of 2 Broke Girls, Caroline is especially image conscious when she is told by a co-worker that she has a long hair growing out the side of her face.
Shows an attractive and extremely slim female on the cover of a women's magazine dedicated towards fitness.
Mandi Weatherly is shown in the film as being the typical image conscious leader of a high school popular group named "the plastics."
This Representation of being Image Conscious, exists in today's media as many people around the world care enormously on what others think about them.
This representation of Image Consciousness is still around in today's society as producers are still putting this idea into their audiences head through all kinds of media sources as it continues to sell. Although they are slowly introducing influential characters such as Caroline on 2 Broke Girls to destroy this representation that has been damaging women for for quite some time.
All these media sources show different aspects of how producers tend to deal with the representation of image consciousness they created in their audiences.
2 Broke girls and Mean Girls 2 try to destroy this idea by turning it into comedy, by them laughing at the representation they hope their audience will do the same .
"Shape" Magazine tries to convince women that they should all aim to look like the cover model, and that this figure is easy to acquire, continuing to push this image.
Television Shows: 2 Broke Girls
Film: Mean Girls 2
Mean Girls 2 shows the main character Jo, being the less image conscious character in the film, who still manages to be successful in getting a boyfriend and being accepted to her dream college.
From the producers regularly showing Mandi having her plans backfire on her, making her look like a joke instead of the person intended. Tells women around the world, that people who go out of their way to put others down and make themselves look better in the eyes of their peers, should just be laughed at like character Mandi.
This representation stands out in today's media as it seems like it is telling young women around the world that this is the only image of "being healthy and attractive." And that every female should aspire to look like this cover model. Although this message could have been distorted from the producers original intention through Reception Analysis Theory.
The messages received from 2 Broke Girls and Mean Girls 2, is that the producers want to impact the audience in becoming less image conscious in today's society.
For "Shape" magazine, the message of that all women should look slim to be considered "fit and healthy" could have been distorted to what the producer originally meant, through Reception Analysis Theory. They possibly just wanted to help women become more happy and confident in their own bodies.
Implications Of Image Consciousness:
When ordinary women around the world see the same image of beauty every day in every media source available, they have no choice but to believe it. This is when the implications begin where women become bankrupt from spending all their money on make-up and plastic surgery to look like successful models and actresses, then anorexic from trying to get the perfect figure shown in the media every day.
Below are results from multiple surveys asking a range of teenage girls how they see themselves in today's society:
69% of them are happy with their looks.
50% are self-conscious.
26% are dissatisfied with their looks.
59% have digitally enhanced their photos on social media.
45% have considered plastic surgery.
39% are happy with their body.
And believe that others think they are;
The same surveys was sat by females over the age of 60, it shows that they are more gracious, satisfied and are less self-conscious about their looks than females of 16 years old.
The trend seems to be that the older you get the more happier and more accepting you become with your appearance, as shown from the surveys.
Many media sources may not have or had intentionally contributed in creating this representation of image consciousness in their audiences a few decades ago, through extensively promoting this image of beauty.
They have tried to combat this by creating shows like Mean Girls 2 and 2 Broke Girls to be role models in how these women should feel confident about themselves.
How single, young females are portrayed in today's media has rapidly changed in the last decade. This is due to media sources acknowledging their damage they had inflicted towards their audiences such as anorexia and debt. Introducing projects such as 2 Broke Girls and Mean Girls 2 to act as some what role models for modern day females, in how to overcome certain situations concerning the representation of Image Consciousness and how to be yourself.
She runs out to the bathroom to remove it but soon returns making a joke out of it saying she needs "industrial sized tweezers" to remove it.
The image is surrounded by fitness terms, giving tips to their audience of females on how to look like this women

She has the visual features of being tanned, tall, slim and brunette.
She is shown as always having her plans backfire, making her look like a fool instead of the person she had intended.
In the film, Mandi throws a party for herself, but is stood up as everyone goes to main character Jo's across the street. She storms over and tries to sabotage it by spiking the food, it then backfires as her boyfriend ends up covering her in his vomit.
Image Consciousness is reinforced by today's media, such as on "Shape Magazine" where this idea of being slim and beautiful is pushed to the limit, where your ordinary women around the globe feel like they have to look this way to fit in and be successful.
The director does this to show females that they do not need to be image conscious and be someone they are not to be successful.
They do this by using the Bullet (Hypodermic) model, in which the viewer will see a character making fun of themselves, so the viewer will begin to do the same, becoming less and less self-conscious and more easy going.

This is when Reception Analysis Theory could have occurred where the messages may have been distorted and received in a different way then producer had intended.

And Flippant about Careers
Spiral of Silence Theory could have occurred, as when this representation of beauty was first introduced into the media, many women would have bought into this new look so as the numbers grew of people speaking in favor of the image, the less the people will speak against it, in which the spiral begins.
She has the physical features of having long blonde hair, blue eyes, tall and very slim. Which is considered the typical image of beauty in today's society.
We used these representations to discover key messages in the media types of Film, Television Shows and Magazine Covers. The sources we studied include:
Bridget Jones' Diary
And Ranges of Women's Magazines including Cleo and Cosmopolitan.
This representation of Image Consciousness in 2 Broke Girls, seems like it is trying to break away from the typical image of beauty that was created in previous years from alternative media sources.
In the producers making Caroline an image conscious, single female, helps her relate to the audience of the show, and when she is shown making jokes about her flaws and accepting them they hope their audience will learn to do the same.
They want to show their main audience of females that no one is perfect and that all women have flaws and they should be able to have a laugh about themselves.
Caroline is shown as being enthusiastic, attractive and intelligent, shows women around the globe that they do not have to fit in a single stereotype e.g Blondes are not intelligent. This show's women that they can just be themselves.
Future of Image:
This representation is beginning to fade away in today's media, as many females are becoming comfortable in their own skin due to shows like 2 Broke Girls, teaching women its not about how others see you, its how you see yourself.
The future of this representation does not look like it will last much longer due to the rise in media sources correcting the damage they previously inflicted on their audiences introducing plus size actresses such as Rebel Wilson and Melissa McCarthy beginning to make appearances in hit films and T.V Shows.
This change in representation has already impacted today's society as the typical image of beauty has changed seeing Lupita Nguong being named the world's most beautiful woman in 2014.
This is not particularly a positive aspect as New Zealand's obesity in teenage girls has raised significantly since the previous decade, which puts major financial pressure on the national health care system.
